There are biological
reasons we do
‘kind’ things
In today’s Echo Essentials Podcast, Dr. Steven Arnocky, a Nipissing University Professor specializing in Evolutionary Psychology, explains how doing “kind” things for others serves a biological purpose.
Dr. Anocky also talks about the differences between altruistic and selfish behaviour in relation to acts of kindness, which was the basis of a study he was involved with that received national media attention.
- 0:00 Dr. Arnocky background
- 16:00 Altruism and religion
- 34:00 Community-based kindness

What does
your Mother
mean to you?
Mother’s Day is this Sunday and 2NBWL host Lisa Boivin invited fellow Echo podcast hosts Scott Clark and Dave Dale into the studio to drill deep into their relationships with their mothers and what the annual occasion means to them.
The trio bring up both the good and the bad of their childhood memories, including how their relationships changed over the years. It’s an emotional discussion at times (yes, Dave chokes up right after Lisa shares a touching story), putting into perspective the sacrifice mothers make and challenges they face raising children.

Today’s Zen Suggestion: Being kind to animals is a sign of compassion … even if they may end up on your plate someday. Being kind to vegans is a sign of extreme tolerance.
